GEOFF WELLES ABSTRACT MACHINA
Geoff Welles originated this art style a long time ago on homework, tests, and meeting notes when thoughts become fluid and ever changing in odd directions. Abstract Machina is primarily a design-based artwork that works from both sides of the brain! Creativity comes out flowing with continuously changing concepts with no true end in mind; hence the primarily abstract designs. However, there needs to be more than just splotches of color, lines, and shapes; there needs to be SOMETHING physical. This style allows creation of specific details in the machinery while at the same time letting it grow into something unknown during its creation! Nature vs. the Machine has become a prominent fixture in this line of artwork. Geek culture influences quite a bit of fanart that rounds out his portfolio.
Living and teaching high school in small town Minnesota has given Geoff a unique perspective after growing up in a much bigger city. Teaching kids has also given him a fantastic opportunity to apply what he teaches into his own artwork.
Currently Geoff is working on breaking into the business a bit more. He is working on his own Art projects that not only include Machina, but commissions and other various personal projects.
You can find the work of Abstract Machina at
L. Louise during the Dassel Art Fair on October 29.
